Instead, consider an investment with Schlage and our open architecture, non-proprietary Custom Key Encryption Services which provides a greater level of control and flexibility for the end user.
As a Trusted Authority, Schlage’s Custom Encryption Key Service creates an encryption key unique to the end user. This encryption key is owned and controlled by the end user - not Schlage. Processes and infrastructure have been put in place to transparently develop and securely store custom encryption keys on behalf of the end user. Schlage has committed to manufacture products with the end user’s unique custom encryption key, without ever seeing the secret information. And, Schlage will securely distribute the key back to the end user upon request.
Allegion owns and manages a default encryption key that is unique to Schlage. Allegion securely stores the Schlage default encryption key in a virtual vault and securely provisions this key through our manufacturing process and transparently configures Schlage credentials, card readers, intelligent wired and wireless locksets as well other devices upon request by end user customers via Allegion’s channel procurement model.
The Schlage default encryption key will NOT be shared with channel or end user customers. Even though Schlage’s default key is proprietary, Allegion does offer a migration path should an end user initially select a default key and later determine the need to develop and deploy a custom encryption key while protecting their hardware investment.
Enhance your security without adding cost through our CardTrax™ account tracking program. We keep track of card numbers that have shipped and fulfill future orders so that card numbers are never duplicated. The program is available to clients who order cards on a regular basis.
There are two types of CardTrax™ accounts available, Standard CardTrax™ and Restricted CardTrax™. Standard CardTrax™ accounts are available for end users, PACS/OEM’s and integrator customers. The account will track bit format, facility code, and Badge ID information. It will never allow duplicates to be sent to that specific customer. Restricted CardTrax™ accounts (bit formats 35C and 40X) are reserved for end users only. This type of account will track bit format facility code and Badge ID information. The bit format and facility code combination can only be registered by one end user, and once registered it is not available to any other end user.
