Formula Grants

The following grants are issued annually by the Department of Education, Office of Safe and Healthy Students.

Title I, Part A – Improving Basic Programs

Provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families.  Its purpose is to ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. This funding includes uses for well-being, which encompasses security and safety. 

Use for:

  • Access Control
  • Improving classroom security
  • Enhancing perimeter security
  • Compartmentalizing the building

Title IV, Part A – Student Support of Academic Enrichment (SSAE) Program

Provides students with access to a well-rounded education, improved school conditions for student learning, and improved use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy for all students.

Use for:

  • Access Control
  • Improving classroom security
  • Enhancing perimeter security
  • Compartmentalizing the building

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Program – Part B

Part B of this formula grant assists states in providing a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment for children with disabilities, ages three through 21. 

Use for:

  • ADA Compliant products
  • Changing knobs to levers
  • Auto operators
  • Electronic solutions that enhance accessibility
